Fremont Street

Walk with me as I give you a tour down Fremont Street and we witness the changes that I like to refer to as the ‘Vegas Apocalypse’!

shepard-fairey-plaza-mural-1000x1333-minYou see all the opulence of the Las Vegas strip but when you come to Fremont Street, you see murals, like this one on the Plaza Hotel painted by Shepard Fairey the man responsible for the Obama Hope posters that makes you think beyond the casino.

You see shops in Container Park recycled from railroad containers and the roofs of tiny houses for the employees of Zappos Shoes, an organization known for both efficiency and it’s views concerning holocracy, a philosophy which celebrates efficiency and empowers employees to become self reliant decision makers.IMG_1649

Measure this with the reality that more people are skipping the gaming tables for restaurants, shows, and other experiences, and we might have another Vegas Apocalypse on our hands!  A revelation that this city might be slowly steering away from gambling and the other excesses that once defined Las Vegas.
